7.5 MW Facility
Montrose, Co
The South Canal Hydroelectric Project is located in Western Colorado. The project consisted of two separate facilities along the South Canal. Each site has a new intake structure featuring a unique patented Automatic Trip Gate to hold the pool higher than a conventional overflow wall. The existing canal acts as a bypass.
The penstocks are a buried 11' diameter steel pipe for each facility. The powerhouse at Drop #1 houses a 4 MW Turbine Generator and Drop #3 (approximately 1 mile down stream from Drop #1) houses a 3.5 MW Turbine Generator.
Commissioned Spring 2013.
This project was completed under an EPC format.
